Deepening Green Sustainability: Implementing Environmental Action within Dormitories
The "Dormitory Green Living" initiative continued this semester to strengthen students' commitment to environmental protection. On March 22nd, in observance of "Earth Hour," the Residential Colleges invited residents to join the "2025 Earth Hour" activity by turning off lights for one hour simultaneously, demonstrating a collective commitment to energy conservation and carbon reduction.
Furthermore, on April 23rd, the "Dormitory Second-hand Market" took place at the square in front of the library. This event encouraged students to exchange and reuse idle items, promoting the spirit of a circular economy and the sustainable value of resource management.
Showcasing Creative Aesthetics: Building a Platform for Handcrafts and Cultural Exchange
A series of diverse handcraft courses provided students with a vital platform to express their creativity and share interests. Activity highlights included:
- March 19th & 26th: The "Badge & Fun" and "Beaded Phone Strap & Ita Bag" workshops allowed students to experience the joy of manual creation.
- April 30th & May 8th: The "Cream Glue Cardholder DIY" and "Ribbon Badge Base DIY" sessions were held, blending fine craftsmanship with popular culture.
- May 22nd: The "Guide to Modern Chinese Style Fashion" invited students to explore the aesthetics of traditional Chinese attire, fostering a deep dialogue between culture and design.
Beyond arts and environmentalism, the program emphasized practical life skills and physical/mental health. On March 27th, the "Home Repair Workshop" course was conducted to teach students basic repair techniques, enhancing their self-sufficiency.
In the realm of sports, the "The Summit Ping-Pong King" Table Tennis Friendly Match was held on April 25th at the Dormitory four basement gym, providing a venue for competition and social interaction, promoting physical health and dormitory bonding. Additionally, during the mid-term exam period, each dormitory launched the "Mid-term ALL PASS" support activity, providing supplies and encouragement to students to foster a warm and supportive community atmosphere.
Conclusion: Transforming Dormitories into Learning Spaces
The Residential Colleges and Housing Services Section remarked that the core philosophy of this series is "Life is Learning." Through educational and engaging planning, the university aims to transform dormitories from mere living quarters into essential spaces where students can cultivate independence, explore diverse interests, and practice a sustainable lifestyle.
